At the present time, a vacancy for a part-time Student Support Specialist positions exist within the 21st Century Community Learning Center Program, Student Services divison of the Chester County Intermediate Unit. These positions will work with at risk Latino middle and high school in the Avon Grove and Oxford Area School Districts during afterschool and summer programs. Program locations will be at the Garage Community and Youth Center in West Grove and at the Penns Grove Middle School in Oxford.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
  • Experience working with bilingual/bicultural students, preferred
  • Experience working with middle and/or high school students, preferred
  • Computer and current technology knowledge required
  • Must have valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Current police, child abuse & FBI Fingerprint clearances required
  • Clearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and federal government (conducted by CCIU upon hire)

 
Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement afterschool and summer supplemental educational programs for at risk Latino middle and/or high school students
  • Communicate regularly with participating students’ parents, home school teachers, guidance counselors, and administrators, as necessary
  • Assist with facilitation of the involvement of parents in the education of their children through translation/interpretation and dissemination of information
  • Plan and implement Parent Involvement activities within the 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) program
  • Communicate regularlywith community agencies and social services that serve our participating families to keep them informed of the 21st CCLC program activities and to identify what services they offer
  • Educate and refer participating families to community agencies, social services and schools to expand the supports offered to them

Estimated work days and hours:

 

  • Afterschool programs run from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 36 weeks per school year. This will be prorated for the 2017-2018 school year. (Summer programs will run for six weeks, Monday-Thursday, 12:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.)

 Salary:

 

  • $25.17 - $31.46 per hour
