Effective August 2017, a vacancy for an instructional assistant of Animal Science exists in the division of Career, Technical and Customized Education at the Technical College High School, Pickering Campus in Phoenixville.

Qualifications:

Candidate must possess their Certified Veterinary Technician credential and other relevant industry certifications. Preference given to production animal and/or equine experience.

Must be able to use computers for email, word processing, Excel and other applications necessary to fulfill the requirements of the position. All instructional assistants at the TCHS must have an adaptable and flexible perspective. The programs are often shared with post secondary institutions, requiring a strong team philosophy.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Provide assistance to the instructor of Animal Science and to the secondary career and technical education students to prepare them for a successful career path.

The Animal Science program focuses on instruction and hands-on scaffolding with topics mainly focused on vet tech assistant tasks with students of various ability levels. Candidate must be able to work in a physically demanding, high paced, and multi-tasking environment, providing assistance to the program instructor, to the students as well as care for the animals that live in the program area. There is the potential for taking students to off-site facilities and locations.

Salary (listed as hourly rates):

• 0-5 yrs experience=$13.26-$13.64
• 6-10 yrs experience= $13.83-$14.22
• 11-20 yrs experience= $14.42- $16.81
• 21-29 yrs experience= $17.13-$20.18
• * Bachelors degree is equivalent to 9 yrs experience on the scale= $14.01
• *Master's degree is equivalent to 15 yrs experience on the scale = $15.32

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7.5 hours, per day
