Description

A current vacancy exists internally at the CCIU for a Teacher on Special Assignment (ToSA) within the Student Services division.

 

The Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) is a member of a building/program team assigned to support administration and staff with program implementation.  The function of this position is to provide consultation at the individual student, classroom and/or school wide levels. Services include consultations regarding individual students, training and staff development, dissemination of information regarding available resources, leadership with IEP meeting planning and preparation, and modeling of meeting facilitation. The TOSA promotes a productive and positive self-concept by providing supportive, non-evaluative assistance.

 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Special Education/General Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of special education teaching experience, school-age level preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to facilitate group trainings, meetings, and/or conflict.
  • Current child abuse, criminal history and FBI fingerprinting clearances required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance, information, and training in special education topics and best practice strategies to the needs of students, teams, buildings, and parents.
  • Provide direct support for identified staff in a variety of topics, including research-based strategies of differentiated instruction, classroom management, data collection, etc.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to develop effective programs and services including assessment, data collection, and IEP development.
  • Access and create instructional materials, media, technology, on site experiences, and community-based experiences, that lead students to progress through individual goals and objectives.
  • Support staff (regular education, special educators, support staff) involved with caseload special education students through review and communication of specially designed instruction, goals and objectives, appropriate strategies, and progress monitoring as indicated by student IEPs.
  • Participate in PDE and CCIU sponsored training sessions and planning meetings.
    Utilize and disseminate PDE sponsored materials and information.
    Perform additional duties as needed and specified by CCIU.

Salary (Professional):

 

$56,571 to $94,323 - Master's degree

$59,077 to $98,082 - Masters degree plus 15 credits

$60,390 to $99,881- Masters degree plus 30 credits
